I use 100% shea butter and the Shea Moisture line. Make sure that after you wash it, you use cloth-covered rubber bands to put all of you hair in small sectioned ponytails (after you pic through it). I personally have very thin fine hair but I know several people that use it on their thick course hair and they love it. And you can also pour it in a bath or apply after a shower.
