Hair Dye Problems!?

So, i've tried like every kinda hair dye out there and STILL nothing will come close to my natural hair color. About 4 years ago i dyed my hair with blonde highlights...now i just want my natural dark brown back but i keep ending up with like...a light gold tinted brown.

Stop dying or is there a product that actually works and stays!?!?

EITHER GO TO A PROFESSIONAL SALON OR ...

SALLYS BEAUTY SUPPLY AND THEY WILL HELP YOU FIND A COLOR THAT MATCHES YOUR NATURAL COLOR.

YOU PROBABLY NEED A LEVEL 4 AND YOU PROBABLY NEED AN BLUE OR VIOLET BASE TO GET RID OF THE BRASSY COLOR

Try using a really ashy brown, it won't turn out so gold coloured.

quit dying it.

it will grow back :]

get trims and it should be fine.

If those Store products don't work, have it done professionally at a salon :]]] or my fave, Sally's Beauty Supply, they have all kinds at good prices, plus they'll work with you to find your true match.

Once you've started coloring your hair, you can't stop. It will never be just "natural" again. Best thing to do is to color it every few months, just to keep it touched up and be the color you want it to be. I know what you mean. I color my hair dark brown every few months if not longer, just because it gets so light. During the summer, it gets really light, a lot faster. I've used Nice N Easy and Garnier. Those are both good brands. Don't use Color Silk, and nothing with "ash" in it.

Unless you use Henna then all tints (ie permanent hair colours) use peroxide soooooo even when you chose a dark shade it will lighten with washes and sun exposure as it grows out. Use a semi-permanent colour and the highlights and the tints will grow out eventually. Top up the colour on the ends and mid-lengths only as it lightens between applications. You will have to do this every 3-4 weeks. Your ends and mid-lengths will lighten first because they will contain the bleach from your highlights and previous tints and are the dryest and have been exposed to the elements for the longest time. Make sense?

Ok, for starters the hair that you highlighted is your problem, if you use only ash brown when you color your hair dark brown I am guessing a level 5 your highlights will be green, not very attractive, understand when you take the pigment out of hair, keep in mind when you want to put it back, you have to put both gold and ash. I would tell you to refer to your color wheel, but you wouldn't know what i am talking about. I would suggest semi or demi permanent color, I think you might be using a permanent color. that may be why you are getting a light gold brown, the color is lifting as well as depositing, you only need deposit, although demi lifts enough to open the cuticle so that your color last longer ,with very little notice of regrowth. I suggest the nearest salon, but if you plan on doing it yourself good luck keep in mind neutral would be my choice.
