Does temporary hair dye damage less than permanant dye?

i've been dying my hair with black permanant dye for 4 years now and i think my hair is getting really damaged because of this.....i DONT want to stop dying it black because i hate my natural hair color, so if i use temporary hair dye like 'mani panic' or other brands, will it damage my hair less?

Does temporary hair dye damage less than permanant dye?

Actually, since black is such a dark color I don't believe the difference in chemicals will matter You aren't using a developer with the permanent color so it isn't lifting you natural color to deposit the black dye. I believe you should continue using the black hair permanent dye because rinses (aka semi-permanent) will have to be done frequently and can screw up your pillowcases and **** collars by transferring.

Does temporary hair dye damage less than permanant dye?

i think soooooooo

Does temporary hair dye damage less than permanant dye?

No, because you will have to dye it more.

Does temporary hair dye damage less than permanant dye?

well.

since you dont want to lay off on the dying- i think you should lay off on the permanent dying!

go to www.colorpulseusa.com

it last for 8-12 weeks and it's cheap-only 5 bucks and it's VERY easy to apply. (it's a mousse)

i've tried this lOTS of times i also used the herbal essence/clairol one and both of them work very well! i suggest the loreal (www.colorpulseusa.com) becuase it has more variety of color-but if you want to check out the clairol one the link is

http://www.clairol.com/colorflirt/usa/in...

check both of them and try it! it works well!!

by the way it has no amonia or peroxide!

oh and to take away some damage-

you could go to www.timerenewal.com (it's pantene-the shampoo) and take the quiz. you could the use shampoo they suggest. they have a shampoo that is just for hair that has been through alot. it takes away the damage.

and you could take vitamins to make your hair healthy.

good luck

Does temporary hair dye damage less than permanant dye?

If it is temporary then it's not a dye but a rinse and this do not damage hair because it is more like a color conditioner, if it is permanent it is a dye and it surely damages your hair because dyes are chemicals.

Hair dye not sure if its a good idea?

i have dark brown hair and i was thinking of dyeing the under layer of my hair a color(a color thats cool.ex-pink-not a natural hair color but an exotic hair color) but im not sure wat color i should do. also i might use the same color as the under layer for highlights on my side bangs. Is this a good idea? How much would it be and what brand carries crazy colors?

Hair dye not sure if its a good idea?

wait like low lights? well usually if you have blonde ahir you do pink because it looks brighter but hot pink low lights and dark brown hair might look good but i probably wouldnt get my side bangs hot pink or you could like do it streaked so its like two bright colors you can get it done at the hair dressers or i guess try yourself but yeah i am like a huge fashionista i love cltohes and hair and makeup you can like totally asked me questions about hair and beauty!

good luck!

Katie

Hair dye not sure if its a good idea?

YES! it is a very good idea. You should die it pinkn or purple or even green because EVERY1 does pink and purple. Every brand carries these colors and they are only $14.99 at most! Good luck.

Hair dye not sure if its a good idea?

Ah man, don't dye your hair, most of the time you just make it worse. Its a waste of money and its not good on it. Keep it the way it is, i'm sure you'll look just fine.

Hair dye not sure if its a good idea?

Yeah that sounds awsome. My friend has a bleach blonde under her hair. it looks really cool

pink sounds hotttt but try something like green or orange. maybe even blue.

the only problem with pink is that it turns orange when it fades

:-)

Hair dye not sure if its a good idea?

you should try to find the brand COLOR SHOCK at any beauty supply shop. It will look cool, however, going to a stylist would be recommended. If all you want is the underside colored you should be able find a place to do it for $50 or less, unless you want a cut also. I would not advise to hightlight your bands though...

Hair dye not sure if its a good idea?

I think it would look awesome! If it were me I think I'd go with a crazy bright red and maybe dye your top layer jet black. I like the idea of doing just a strip of color in your bangs too, I think that would look great! I would do it just like that if I thought I could pull it off! It's hard now though with two young sons, I think I would just look silly to the other moms!

Would you rather... hair?

Would you rather have:

Perfectly straight, natural hair

Perfectly straight, fried-by-a-straitener hair

Naturally wavy hair

Crimped wavy hair

Naturally curly hair

or Curling-ironed curly hair???

???

Would you rather... hair?

Any of the ones up there that have "NATURAL" In them. To me, anything that isn't "unatural" just isn't very appealing to me... Not saying that it dosen't look great to some people, but to me, it's just like "Why would sombody strive SO hard for somthing that they can't say that they were born with..." Soo yeah, HOPE THIS HELPS ~Cookiedough~

Would you rather... hair?

nauturallly wavy

Would you rather... hair?

I have naturally wavy/curly hair and I really like it because it looks good on me, and if I want, I can always straighten it.

Would you rather... hair?

Any style, Girlfriend.

Would you rather... hair?

Well, I have naturally curly hair, and I love it. So I'll go with the curls.

Would you rather... hair?

I have perfectly straight, natural hair and it is really easy to work with, I love the naturally curly look to, I think its gorgeous! But I can always curl it...

Would you rather... hair?

Curling-ironed curly hair

Except naturally curly

Would you rather... hair?

Definitely crimped wavy hair!!

Would you rather... hair?

ummmm... wow this is a hard question.... i just like normal hair i guess.......

Would you rather... hair?

Naturally curly hair like I have.

It's a hassle but I take care of it so it pays off.

Would you rather... hair?

Ohhhh I get it!

this is one of those trick questions, and if I say the obvious answer, I die, right?

Well, guess what, mister, I uhhh DON'T want prefectly straight natural hair. I hate it. Yeah. And I'd rather have permed curled, old-lady hair! Ha! In your face!

Can non-alcohol gel still damage your hair? Im trying to grow it out! I need some advice... HELP?

About a month ago I came across my old 8th grade picture and my hair looked so hot! It was long, blonde and wavy/ curly (totally all naturaal) I was so sad because over the years I totally fried my hair with dying and straightening. So i decided that I was just going to cut it short and never touch a straightner and blow dryer again until it is my natural color and a long length. One inch of natural hair later, here i am with short ugly half blonde faded brown hair... but anyways i understand that gels with alcohol in them damage the hair, along with any product with alcohol because it drys it out. But what about gels with no alcohol in them? I just started drinking protein shakes everyday also, and I eat spinach and drink water religiously (there my favorite) Why is my hair still growing so slow?

Thanks for listenting to my rant and questions =)

Can non-alcohol gel still damage your hair? Im trying to grow it out! I need some advice... HELP?

You cant grow hair! Alcohol or no alcohol!

DOO GROW WORKS

Can non-alcohol gel still damage your hair? Im trying to grow it out! I need some advice... HELP?

alcohol is not what you should worry about its ammonia and aluminumzarconium

if you avoid that and don't over wash your hair

and you will be fine!

Can non-alcohol gel still damage your hair? Im trying to grow it out! I need some advice... HELP?

It's probably not growing slow. It just seems that way because you want it to grow. Mine is short and I hate how fast it grows. It just takes time when you grow it out. You'll be fine using products without alcohol

Can non-alcohol gel still damage your hair? Im trying to grow it out! I need some advice... HELP?

Alcohol-free gels are actually recommended in the all-time best book on curly hair care: Curly Girl.

Here, look at it on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Curly-Girl-Lorrain...

She recommends non-alcohol gel, as well as NOT using shampoo (only conditioner, which has cleaning agents of its own but not harsh detergents), and has plenty of treatments and tricks for curly/wavy hair.

For real, it'll, uh, turn your head around about curly hair care!

But as far as how fast your hair grows...that's just heredity at work. Personally, my hair grows really fast, which means my roots show up in about 2-3 weeks rather than the 4-6 weeks many people can wait between dye jobs.

So it's not all good...though I won't say it's all bad. But you wouldn't want to deal with the cowlicks I have :)!

Can non-alcohol gel still damage your hair? Im trying to grow it out! I need some advice... HELP?

i had a stint of like 3 years where my hair didn't seem to grow at all, i freaked and thought it might fall out so i went to the doc and he said hair grows in cycles and 1/3 of the time its growing and 2/3 its a "sleep" he said there is no treatment to make hair grow faster. you can take prenatel vitiams and they will help. but if finally got mine to grow when i started conditioning it every night before i went to bed and then i would rinse it out in the morning. i only shampoo the roots every other day so it doesn't dry it out. and my hair is gorgous. it took it awhile though and to get your color to fade together instead of dying it, try color rinses, it will make the blond slowly turn to light brown. good luck

Can I dye my hair light purple?

Hi, I'm a cosplayer! For those of you that don't know what that means, it's when you dress up as an anime character. I plan on going to a con as Kagami from Lucky Star, and she has long purple pigtails. The convention isn't until May 08, but chances are my hair still won't be as long as hers.

I've dyed my hair before. I used temporary red and copper colours, and I've dyed my hair red with permanent. Recently, I bleached my hair blonde. My natural hair colour is a medium-dark brown. Right now it it a golden blonde, but I have my roots showing and they're growing in fast.

I want to dye my hair a very light purple for the con. Think powder blue but... well... purple. My hair might be about halfway down my back by the con, and I want to be sure I have enough to get a proper, even colour all over. Can anybody tell me, is there any dye I can get? I would not like to resort to wearing a wig. Kagami: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en...

Can I dye my hair light purple?

manic panic has colors that look like they match that!

since your hair is already bleached it should take the color super easily.

you can find manic panic at hottopic.com or just look for their official website!

Can I dye my hair light purple?

You can try getting purple extensions if you're worried about your hair not being long enough.

Can I dye my hair light purple?

Just go to a hairstylist with a sample of the haircolor you want.

I vote get it dyed the week before to make sure all your hair doesn't fall out from bleaching it. ha :]

Can I dye my hair light purple?

first dye your hair white...then use a color with a violet base...it works!

Can I dye my hair light purple?

ya you can deffinately get that color i wouldnt' see why!!!!! good luck!!!

Can I dye my hair light purple?

I know this from personal experience: Manic Panic and other colors don't stay in for more than a week, unless they are put into extensions. If you REALLY wanted to color your hair purple, you would have to bleach it platinum blonde or maybe even lighter, and then color it with permanent purple, which would KILL your hair.

Honestly, I would wear the wig, otherwise you could totally kill your hair.

Hope that I could help!

:)

Can I dye my hair light purple?

http://www.manicpanic.com/best_of_best.h...

Mystic Heather. My friend had this color and it turned out almost just like that sinc her her hair was already light blue. I would say mix the Heather with just a tad of the Bad Boy Blue (just a little, mix until it starts showing up a bit blueish and add a BIT AT A TIME), bleach your hair to a very light blonde (longer for the roots) and dye it with the Manic Panic. You can get all of this at Sally about 30 dollars in total, and one Manic Panic tub is about 4 ounces, so it should give a lot of mileage, since you can reuse leftovers. Don't forget to add a bit to your shampoo to prevent fading, and wash with cold water. Drop me a line if you're unclear about anything.

Can I dye my hair light purple?

if it's a light purple ... be careful. you might have to die it all blonde to get it one color . roots and all. then a day later use light purple.

my concern is that your roots will be a darker shade of a purple than your light colored longer hair will be a lighter shade of purple on the same head. this is a lot of chemicals and processing for your hair . then when you get tired of purple or it grows out you will have color again.

now if you are gonna wait til next year to go purple then i would lay off the chemicals for awhile. if you change to a darker color , they will probably have to bleach it blonde to get it light enough for the purple to come through. they can do that , but you should probably color yours back to natural color and stop coloring it for the winter.

you might want to speak to a professional. after you do this with the purple you are gonna want to change again . you do not want to end up with a disaster. figure out your plan for the next few months .

good luck to you.

Help!!! dyed hair and hate it, need advice!?

ok i posted before about having highlighted blonde hair which was too light and i want it back to my darker natural blonde.

anyway, i bought a dark blonde colour and put it on last nite but it looks HORRID it looks brown!! i didnt leave it on for 25 mins either, was about 15-20 mins!

ive read that tinted or highlighted hair reacts diff to colours than natural hair but i didnt know this!!

anway ive been washing it with washing up liquid and gonna get some vosene too. how long will it take to wash out? its gross! the box says it lasts 6 weeks. i hope its not that long!!

please help im goin away in april and want it nice for then.

thank u

p.s i dont mind paying for a hairdresser to fix it!

thanks xx

Help!!! dyed hair and hate it, need advice!?

I would suggest you just go to a hairdresser, they will be able to correct it and save you from further misery!!! save it for the experts!

Help!!! dyed hair and hate it, need advice!?

i had the same problem 2 months ago. i wanted my hair medium brown so i gt a semi permanet hair dye but horriblu my hair turned out jet blak which made me look like i was going to haloween.anyways every day i washed my hair abou 7 times u wash it and den rinse n den wash and rinse.a good shampoo 2 do dis is head and shoulders citrus fresh or any shampoo for oily hair.if you wash it alot den in 3 days the colour should go more or less to the colour u had it b4.the maximum it will take is a week.

Help!!! dyed hair and hate it, need advice!?

Buy a wig and let your natural hair grow back. Then you can start from scratch.

Help!!! dyed hair and hate it, need advice!?

soap may get the colour out but make sure you buy a leave in conditioner to help with any dryness that may occur.

Help!!! dyed hair and hate it, need advice!?

try to wash it off.some highliters come out when u wash it. or go to the salon.

Help!!! dyed hair and hate it, need advice!?

It's the hairdressers for you, sorry can't help. You know it usually states on the box of dye to do a strand test, and I have to confess I have never done the test, so I think I'm lucky not to have had a disaster. Hope all goes well and you get sorted at the hairdressers.

Help!!! dyed hair and hate it, need advice!?

okay go to a hair dresser asap cause if you hate it you probobly dont want anyone to see it then tell them to dye it back regular color it will work dont worry

Help!!! dyed hair and hate it, need advice!?

I may have answered you before about this and i think that I told you that you shouldn't mess with it but go back to the salon. However a few years a go I would have tried what you did myself so it'a live and learn experience.Trust me on this :quit while you're ahead and go to a proffessional to get it fixed. Good luck, hair issues can be rather traumatizing

Help!!! dyed hair and hate it, need advice!?

Get a lighter hair dye, one that matches your own colour. Those loreal ones are rather good with the highlights in the box. But dont over do it and get a really light one to compensate for the darkness of your hair now or you'll get redish tones.

It might just be that the dye is still fresh... I dyed my hair darker and it looked really bad for the first week, but after a few good washes it does tone down to a more natural - looking colour.

Help!!! dyed hair and hate it, need advice!?

It will come out soon, but you should not have used permanent haircolor on your highlighted hair, you should have used a temporary dye, and always leave the color as long as instructed in the box, or you can risk stained hair.

Anyway, to get rid of it faster, buy some deep-cleaning shampoo like Neutrogena, and mix it with some baking soda in the palm of your hand. Apply it to the hair and leave for a couple minutes. Rinse it out. Follow with a hot oil treatment. Your hair will look a lot lighter after just this one wash/hot oil.

Help!!! dyed hair and hate it, need advice!?

Honey, I've colored my hair blond all of my life and I've done what you did before, getting the werong shade. The biggest problem is the damage done to your hair by color. If you plan to go lighter by yourself I think you should do some hot oil treatments,VO5 makes a good one, and use a deep conditioner and leave it on for a few hours. Then it will be O.K. to use a lighter shade of blonde. If you can afford it have a stylist fix it.

The worst thing I ever did was color my hair then dive into a newly clorinated pool ! My hair was bright green for ages !

Help!!! dyed hair and hate it, need advice!?

there are many store bought products that can remove hair-dye from your hair. check out your local Walgreen's and you should be able to find some.

Help!!! dyed hair and hate it, need advice!?

If you don't mind paying for a hairdresser then I'd book an appointment, ask for a colour technician, its a speciality that not all hairdressers are equally good at.

Help!!! dyed hair and hate it, need advice!?

If you don't mind paying a hairdresser than that is definitely your best course of action. They should be able to sort the colour out and give you some tips on keeping it healthy and what treatments will work with it.

Help!!! dyed hair and hate it, need advice!?

it looks HORRID it looks brown!!

whats wrong with brown hair...?

anyways my advice is to leave your hair alone.. don't try to die it out... it WILL fry the foo out of your hair.

wash it everyday and let it fade out.

Help!!! dyed hair and hate it, need advice!?

Go to a stylist and get it stripped. It will take it back to your natural color. It is the best thing you can do right now. If you keep on adding colors on top of one another you will end up in a worse position then you are now. Plus, you can really damage your hair by dying it so much at one time.

Help!!! dyed hair and hate it, need advice!?

put mayonase oin your hair for 5 or 10 mins its got to be mayonase with a hint of lime because the l;ime makes your hair smell good.

Help!!! dyed hair and hate it, need advice!?

if you wash iot everyday with an actual shampoo adn not washing up liquid, then it will come out quicker. if this doesn't work after about two weeks, go to a hairdresser and they'll sort it out for you.

Help!!! dyed hair and hate it, need advice!?

if you don,t mind paying i,d go to the hairdressers that way you can have any colour you want

Hair question plzzz help!!!!!!?

ok my natural hair is brown. i put blond highlites in over a year ago but got tired of them so at 7 tonight (4hrs ago) I had it colored (professionally) my natural hair color, brown. She said she had to put sum red in it so it didnt turn green (she tells me this after she dies it)and now it is a burgundy reddish color! I just wanted it brown again.AHHHHHHHHHHHHH! ANd i have to go to church tommorow mornin.PLZZZZZ HELP!!!!!!!!!

Hair question plzzz help!!!!!!?

You could shave your head... just kidding. If it's really bad, put you're hair in a bun and wear a floppy hat. Then when you get in, just keep it in a bun. in 6-8 weeks, you can re-dye it. 4 weeks if you're desperate.

Hair question plzzz help!!!!!!?

um... that wears of in a couple days...

Hair dye..?

Right now I have highlights in my hair (dark brown, medium and blonde)

My natural hair color is dark brown but before I dyed it it was pretty light..( i guess it depends on season too..summer lighter, winter darker) but anyways I can't keep up with the highlights anymore because it costs way too much money

My roots grew out and it looks pretty bad and right now I can't afford to go back and pay another $100 for touch ups and stuff

Do you think its ok to buy hair dye from shoppers and just dye it one color now? Im afraid my hair would turn orangish and bunch of other colors..

What do you think??

Im planning on going back to brown, either dark or light

Thanks

Hair dye..?

If you're wanting to dye it back to brown (whatever shade), it shouldn't come out funny at all if it's done right!

Hair dye..?

well, the bes thting ot do is go to the salon and have it domne a single color if thats what you want. It might suck on waiting to pay for that. I hope you can find a better idea. Don't get hair dye and try t do that. I di dthat and my highlights still showed up but a different color and you know.

Hair straitener...?

i just got a hair-straitener with ceramic plates. if i straitened my hair one in a week will it damage or dryout my hair? any helpful tips will be useful. oh, and do u think its pretty when a girl has just natural hair or strait? thanx

Hair straitener...?

It depends on your overall hair health. Your hair type and etc.

African Am. and cur;y hair is the most prone to damage, so if you are within this then be careful. And use products for heat protection.

Hair straitener...?

i dont think it will damage your hair. you could use a protective spray. L'Oreal + GHD both make them. Natural hair can look good but straight hair is nice now and again or for a night out.

Hair straitener...?

any heat on the hair will cause damage, always use a product that will protect your hair from the heat, always! If you use this product each time you can straiten your hair every day if this is the look you are going for. My self i like verity in looks, how wonderful to decide to go straight today and go curly tomorrow

Hair straitener...?

It can damage your hair. The best thing to do is to always apply a heat protectant to your hair before using heat tools (blow dryers, too), and to deep condition at LEAST once a month (once a week, if you can, is better).

Also, any time you don't HAVE to style your hair with heating tools, don't. If you can let it airdry, do this when you can. Give it a break a few days here and there.

Hair straitener...?

Definetly invest in a heat protecting product! If your hair is correctly protected and considering your hair is in good health it shouldn't cause your hair to dryout doing it only once a week!! I love straight couldn't live without my ghd's.

Hair straitener...?

Using a flat iron once a week should not dry it out, that's only 4 times a month. Just use a heat protectant on it first. I love my flat iron. I just ordered a professional one, cannot wait to get it.

If I get my hair tree braided, will the cornrows show and can I pull my hair into a ponytail?

I know that when your hair is tree braided, they cornrow ur hair, then pull out the synthetic hair as they go along. But will the cornrows show if I try to pull my hair back and wear it in different styles? Does it actually look good? I am thinking about using the wet and wavy yaki, is this a good choice? Please help! I just got a sew in weave put in and I am not very happy with it. If I try to do anything with it a track is showing somewhere, and it just looks really fake and lumpy, kinda like a bad wig. I just want a style that will look nice and give my natural hair a break.I was also thinking about lace braids because I don't really like the lumpy feel of cornrows under all of the hair. Advise please!!!

Hair color advice please!!!閳?

hey guys, ok, so i'm getting my hair professionally colored soon but i don't know which color to have done. i pretty much look like my avatar except i have freckles too. in like january i had highlights done to my hair but they turned out too over powering and i looked blonde and that just didn't look good on me. so if you guys have any advice on what color my hair should be then please tell me. oh, and my natural hair color is medium/dark brown. 閳绢櫄HANKS!!!閳?br>Hair color advice please!!!閳?

I think that you should try an auburn shade. It's a fun summer color and it would look great with you freckles. Just get high and low lights to give your hair some dimension. Good luck with the coloring!!!!

Hair color advice please!!!閳?

How about light brown or brown with a slight reddish tint. Anything too light will eventually fade into a blond like what happened to you before. I always have that problem :-/.

Hair color advice please!!!閳?

A nice summer color i would recomed for you is a Strawberrie blonde or if you wanna go a lil darker you can add a lil plum into the color its alsome

Hair color advice please!!!閳?

Glad to hear you are going to a professional. Ask for advice on what color would look good on you that would complement your skin color. Sounds like you had too many blonde highlights put in the first time. Tell your stylist that you would like highlights, but not too much blonde. They can do highlights and lowlights, which looks very nice, and natural too!

Over dyed hair.. almost grown out.. BUT i need help?

this is a long-hair story

my natural hair colour is light brown. in september last year i dyed my hair black with a semi-permament dye. then stupidly in october i decided to bleach my long hair and i totally fried it. i dyed over it with a dark semi dye a couple of times and it looked fine, apart from being in bad condition. i dyed it once more at christmas and it's a darkish brown now with unnoticable lighter roots. thankfully its almost grown out but it's still very dark. i was wondering if i used a lighter brown dye would it lighten it.. or darken it?

note that my hair is in pretty good condition now apart from the ends

i am not paying for salon treatment as im a poor student and i want to go blonde eventually (as i have done for ages) and im going to get THAT done professionally

sorry about the longness of this.

Over dyed hair.. almost grown out.. BUT i need help?

it would lighten it but it may have redish tones to it. You might want to use a highlighter kit and slowly lighten it and when you are ready to go totally blond it won't be such a drastic change.

Over dyed hair.. almost grown out.. BUT i need help?

I believe it would lighten it...I would suggest bleaching it first, but it sounds like you've had some bad experiences with that.

Over dyed hair.. almost grown out.. BUT i need help?

Cut the ends. Try a rinse for the next 6 months. No dyes.

Over dyed hair.. almost grown out.. BUT i need help?

what you need to do is go to the hairstudio or sallys and ask them what you should do because you died your hair to many different colors i did that and they told me to wait till it grows out. but i just got it died black. waited 3 months and then died it once a month to get it the color it is now.

Over dyed hair.. almost grown out.. BUT i need help?

I would trim the ends or however you much hair you can stand losing to help it grow out faster, I wouldn't dye it anymore and risk it since you are so close to having it grown out. It is hair, if you cut it, by the time your color is even farther along with growing out, your hair will be about the length it was before you got it cut. And, it's hair. It will always grow back. :)

Over dyed hair.. almost grown out.. BUT i need help?

go to a perfusionel get a special shampoo then don't touch it

Over dyed hair.. almost grown out.. BUT i need help?

Cough up the dough and go to the salon and get your ends chopped off, eatting beans on toast for the next few weeks will be worth it!

Over dyed hair.. almost grown out.. BUT i need help?

Don't dye it again! Unless you use a light brown dye which contains bleach, it will just add colour to your hair, making it darker... and when you try to go blonde it'll just go orange.

As people have said, get as much cut off as possible and avoid dying it at all if you really want to go blonde. If you want to cover any roots, use a non-permanent (not semi) with no red hues at all. Most brown dyes contain some red to make them warmer, and red is one of the hardest colours to remove, even for professionals!

Why did my black bsfd say her hair looks like Pubic Hair?

My best friend who is black never shows her natural hair. When I asked her why she always wears wigs and braids she said, 'Because natural black hair looks like pubic hair' I felt bad for her because she took off her wig and showed me her hair and said, "Doesn't it?" I felt so bad because I sort of froze and didn't know what to say." What did she do that for? Did she want to hear me say it did? I never really thought about her hair before this, but even still, I guess everyone has things they don't like about themselves. Later on I told her how I'm embarrassed my pale butt that has pimples on it. She laughed.

Why did my black bsfd say her hair looks like Pubic Hair?

The hair of Black Americans is not all the same. Some have so much keratin over their thick black hair (not brown) that a perm wouldn't necessarily damage their hair.

Now some Black Americans have thin brown to near light golden hair and a perm will only make their hair thinner and leave it prone to damage. Whatever she choses to do, she should love herself.

Why did my black bsfd say her hair looks like Pubic Hair?

both of you are gay! Sorry, i mean stupid!!

Why did my black bsfd say her hair looks like Pubic Hair?

Wow - if that's the case she must spend an awful lot on bikini waxes - either that or she has very short, sparse hair....?

Why did my black bsfd say her hair looks like Pubic Hair?

I'm starting to lose my hair and I don't wear a toupe (probably wrong spelling) but I don't like it, like you said, a lot of people have something about themselves they don't like.

Why did my black bsfd say her hair looks like Pubic Hair?

Why don't you tell your friend to get an account.

Then we won't have to listen to you ask questions

over and over again about blacks.

Why did my black bsfd say her hair looks like Pubic Hair?

Well too bad for her, because my hair is georgeous.

Why did my black bsfd say her hair looks like Pubic Hair?

Cause she's almost as retarded as you.

Why did my black bsfd say her hair looks like Pubic Hair?

that's so nasty. get some clearasil face wash and use it on your butt when you shower. and shower like twice a day, because your butt is getting acne on it because you sweat and it it is clogging your butt pores. gross!

Why did my black bsfd say her hair looks like Pubic Hair?

"Why did my black bsfd say her hair looks like Pubic Hair?"

Of course she did!

Peace!

Why did my black bsfd say her hair looks like Pubic Hair?

No offense but someone has some insecurities about her own race. It's what God gave her . Work with it. Don't cover it up.

Hair Dilema please help, What can I do?

I have been getting highlights in my hair for the past year now. But the past few months I haven't been able to afford them as me and my fiance have just got a house. My roots are now about 1-2inches long and I hate it.

Can I buy a home dye kit to turn my hair back to brown again as this would be easier until I can afford to start going again. I've heard that because parts of my hair are highlighted even when I dye it they will still be lighter than my natural hair.

Hair Dilema please help, What can I do?

Hi,you can try.Good Luck

Hair Dilema please help, What can I do?

only bit of advice i have - whatever you do DONT use sun-in as a cheap fix.

seriously.

dont do it.

ever.

Hair Dilema please help, What can I do?

You could try getting the hair dye that eva longoria advertises on tv where you get a second colour and mini brush thing, and put in your own highlights, then no one will be able to tell the difference!

Hair Dilema please help, What can I do?

It will be lighter as you've stripped your own hair of it's colour but you won't have the terrible roots and it will take about 6 - 8 weeks until it needs doing again and it won't look that bad. Rather than highlights have you though about having what the hair dresser calls a semi-permenant colour? This can be matched up to your darker colour to even it out. It does wash out and the first time you have it you will find it doesn't last as long EG: 6 weeks but after having them 2 or 3 times it will last up to 10 or even 12 weeks. You can only go darker or brighter though so no highlights. It's cheaper and not as damaging and is like the ones you buy in the shops but will last longer and look shiner. Not sure how much your salon charges but say if you pay 鎷?0 now, for the colour alone, then you may only pay about 鎷?0. Don't forget that you don't have to have it cut or dried to have it done and the hairdressers. They won't be offended if you say you only want the colour and not the other things.

Hair Dilema please help, What can I do?

If i were you i would call into a salon and ask their advice, tell them your problem and ask what you can do. They are usually very good at giving you free advice, especially if it is the salon you normally get your highlights done at, as they know you will go back when it is convenient financially..

Hair Dilema please help, What can I do?

I am not a hairdresser but I would be reluctant to do it yourself. Depending if the highlights have been chemically treated or not, you will need a professional colourist to change your hair colour back to your own natural shade. Apparently it is done in stages and red has to be added back first. Doing it yourself could result in your hair going a shade of green... (Past experience).

If you can't afford it at the moment, is it long enough to put up? Or you can those mascara wands that add colour but wash out easily...

I would try and make the most of it until you can go to a hairdresser........ Good luck...

HAiR HeLp!!!!!!!!!!! pLeAsE =[?

okay i dyed my hair like cinnamon stick w/ highlightes and it didn't work (my hair was prev. Black) but it worked on my roots and turned them redish.. i was wondering should i buy the hair color stripper and then re-try it???

**my natural hair color is light brown

PLEASE HELLLP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HAiR HeLp!!!!!!!!!!! pLeAsE =[?

Black hair is the hardest to lighten. Take it from a professional... GO TO A STYLIST! Even for us, it is hit and miss when you lighten it, we just have all the toners we need to make it the color you want after lightening. If you don't want to pay that much to have your hair done, try going to a beauty school where there are professionals there to assist the students. Trust me, I've had many bad experiences with this, and it will just end up damaging your hair the more you have to recolor! Good luck!!

HAiR HeLp!!!!!!!!!!! pLeAsE =[?

okayy.. i will try i think i mighht use hair stripper and retry it..my hair color is a natural lightt almost brown/blonde Report It

HAiR HeLp!!!!!!!!!!! pLeAsE =[?

I suggest you redo all of it just dye It all black then wait for ure natural color to come back. Then dye it all your natural color. Hope It Helps!!!

HAiR HeLp!!!!!!!!!!! pLeAsE =[?

how abt dont dye it and be happy with yur natural hair!

HAiR HeLp!!!!!!!!!!! pLeAsE =[?

good god, get urself to the hairdressers quick

HAiR HeLp!!!!!!!!!!! pLeAsE =[?

not an expert but you should go to a beauty supply store . I believe you need to know what base was used in the color you just did , in order to fix it . They can help . good luck .

HAiR HeLp!!!!!!!!!!! pLeAsE =[?

nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo... (breath) oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo... oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo... shoes are mine bitchooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo... shoes are mine bitchooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo... they are bitchooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...

HAiR HeLp!!!!!!!!!!! pLeAsE =[?

If your hair was black you really need to go to a hairdresser. Black is the hardest color to change. I'm affraid if you put the color stripper on so soon, you will fry your hair or worse make it fall out. Go get a pro to fix it for you.

HAiR HeLp!!!!!!!!!!! pLeAsE =[?

The red will probably fade out of your roots. Wait at least a week before stripping it, because processing your hair will badly damage it and might even do worse things. And did you do the highlights at the same time as when you died it cinnamon stick??

HAiR HeLp!!!!!!!!!!! pLeAsE =[?

Well with dark hair it is hard to fix and to dye your hair. Red is a color you will get most of the time when you color your hair no matter what color your hair is. I have colored my hair for years and this advice i can offer for your problem. First you have to wait for atleast a week before you do anything. You can dry your hair out real bad. I would get a color close to your own hair color and color it back. Then wait a week and put some highlights in it to lighten it if that is what you were trying to get. Be careful when coloring your hair cause you can get messed up for sure. Ask some questions from a hair care person first if you do not want to pay someone to do it which i think in your case was a better idea. They know how it is done. Asking first will keep this from happening again.

HAiR HeLp!!!!!!!!!!! pLeAsE =[?

no no no no no no no no no my wife is a hairstylist and she said dont do it go to a salon and get a hair color correction otherwise your gonna destroy your hair .......

HAiR HeLp!!!!!!!!!!! pLeAsE =[?

you are going to have to strip the color out expcialy scence you had black dye on it because color dont lift color meaning color wont make the color any lighter. the reason it turned red on your roots is because you didnt leave in on long enough or else you have hot roots which makes your root brassy. when you lighten it.

I wanna dye my hair...tomorrow so i need answers!?

okay well i dotn knwo what to do because i got highlights awhile back and well i tried getting my hair done before to get it dark brown but it just went straight to light....my natural hair color which is like a natural light brown....is coming in...but i wanna dye my hair dark brown again....and people are telling me that if i do dye my hair that its going to go even lighter then before because of the highlights....what do i do?!

I wanna dye my hair...tomorrow so i need answers!?

Here's the deal. You have hilights which when you color your hair dark will eventually wash out of them. The reason why your hair seems to get lighter eventually after going dark is because it is artificial pigment and even though it may be a "permanent" hair dye it still will fade over time. The reason it sometimes gets even lighter than your natural hair color when it fades is that hair dye uses peroxide and ammonia that can remove some of your natural pigment even though your went darker. After the artificial dye fades your natural is left and is lighter as a result. Try using color (assuming you are doing this yourself) that says low or no ammonia or a semi permanent. Keep in mind that Semi permanent hair colors tend to look darker since they coat your hair and pick a shade lighter than what you think you want.

I wanna dye my hair...tomorrow so i need answers!?

Wait a while for the highlights to grow out, or if ur in a hurry, dye it and see what happens. Use temp tye so if the color isn't right you can rinse it out.

Hair Colors?

I have medium-light blonde hair, what other natural hair colors could I add to my blonde hair (I want to do chuncks) that will contrast light and dark (dramatically) Like Scene hair.

Hair Colors?

i would go for a carmel to dark brown lowlightsin big chuncks and then i would put auburn or something kinda redish in thin streaks!

Hair Colors?

i would do a level 2 dark brown with some light blond from a cosmetologist

Hair Colors?

You could add some highlights and low-lights like caramel, honey, and light brown strands...You could also try shadowing hair colors, like one color underneath is dark or light or the other one on top is a different color..here's a pic

it's kind of emo,but that's the only one i could find..

Hair Colors?

You'll want to try this website: http://www.ft6.us.tc/

They sell authentic hair extensions with stripes made from real human hair. I buy all my hair from there!

They have a lot of colours to choose from and it's only $12.99 for 6 pieces!

clip in coon tail striped hair extensions are best because-

- you don't ruin your hair with dye

- they don't grow out

- you can put them in and take them off

- they can last you forever

- they're cheap

- they look like the real thing

- they wont go all frizzy and weird like real hair does when it's dyed, it'll just look like part of your hair.

- You can change your look really easily

-won't go against any school or work dress codes as you can take them out!

Multiple Wild Hair colors?

I might be going on an extended trip soon, and I want to get my desire to experiment with wild hair colors out of my system before I return to work in the sane world.

Colors I want to try - bright red, hot pink, orange, blue and purple. I only want temporary, though, not semi/demi permanent, something that I can get rid of and replace with the next color easily, without undue damage to my hair - i.e., making it fall out in clumps.

But I'd also like it to look and act like hair, not like a helmet. The temporary ones that I've seen that wash right out are more like hair gel than dye; dye makes it act right but I'd have to bleach again to get rid of it quickly; and I hate wigs.

I want my head to be one uniform color, but only that color for a couple of days.

My natural hair color is : medium brown; has been bleached in the last few months; now dyed light red.

What are my options and which is the best? How light do I have to bleach my hair for the colors to be most vibrant?

Thanks!

Multiple Wild Hair colors?

hm, maybe try that stuff that you spray on :] like what little

kids use for halloween? its kinda like hairspray, just as

a hairdye %26amp; not sticky :)

Perming the hair?

I had hair loss due to my anorexia and low iron 13 years ago i could not figure out the problem so i was laft with areas on the crown where scalp shows.I have had 4 perms already they would give good body to my hair i have always managed to keep the curls nice and conditioned naver lost hair with perms and the hair which grow back are always healthy like my natural hair.I am 31 so it is hard to move around with scanty hair.Is it ok if i get a perm again.someone said it will kill your follicles is it true?

Perming the hair?

It sounds like you and the perm are just not meant to be.

Stop perming your hair.

If you want curly hair, try using a curling shampoo or roller set your hair or use a curling iron.

There are tons of ways to get curly hair w/o a perm. Talk to a professional stylist about your other options.

Perming the hair?

it does not kill your follicles, too many perms will only cause hair breakage. Also hair loss after anorexia grows back and when iron levels are back to normal. Your hair loss is most likely from genetics or hormones or another medical reason.

There are many trendy hairstyles that can help to cover your thin areas or hair bonding. Perms have been out of style for a long time except the 80 year old ladies who refuse to stop getting a perm every 4-6 weeks.

Hair extensions Experiences??

Are hair extensions really damaging to your hair??? Do they brake your hair??? And is it harder to grow your natural hair afterward??? I'm considering HE for Lenght but i'm a little worried even thought i would go to a top notch l.a. salon...and they look so good on celebrites like jessica simpson and britney and eva longoria...pls help???

Hair extensions Experiences??

No hair extensions are not damaging to your hair. What's damaging to the hair is not putting the extension in correctly or not having the extension removed correctly. Look for someone who have experience with extensions .Don't think that everyone who has a license to do hair has done enough extensions to do a good job. extensions just like any hair treatment not done just right can be damaging but if you get the right person to do your extensions put them in and taking them out . Taking them out properly is very important!!!. You can't skimp on the cost of taking them out on time. Make sure you ask when you need to come back to have them removed. This is very important in keeping your hair. So when you decided to go for a new look your hair will not be damaged

Hair extensions Experiences??

Hair extensions are really damaging to your hair. They can potentially leave you bald. Don't get them!!!!!

Hair extensions Experiences??

i asked my hairdresser and she said that is the WORST thing to do to your hair. you can get them glued in your hair or woven in. it takes a long time to do and once you want them out, just think, they gotta pull them out, probably along with your real hair. i wouldn't do it. i trust my hairdresser and if she says no then i say no

Hair extensions Experiences??

it looks good, but it does damage youre it makes it dried up with split ends... starts to look bad

Hair extensions Experiences??

Just say NO to glue!!!!! get a sew in its more expensive but it wont take tour hair out. they braid your hair and sew in the extensions on the braids, still leaving loose unbraided sections, so that it doesnt look fake :D

Hair extensions Experiences??

it is really damaging to your hair because it stretches it out

Hair extensions Experiences??

Why dont you try clip in hair extensions? I bought mine when I was in the U.K. %26amp; they look great. You can also buy them via the Internet if you dont have any beauty salon suppliers in your area. The clips are so small you dont see them in your hair + you can take them out or put them in whenever you want. The real hair extenstions are the best. Also the worst thing you can use on your hair is Henna.

Hair extensions Experiences??

You can get "Human hair extentions" they have little clips that clip in your hair and unclip to take out. They are soooooo easy, they are real hair so it doesn't look fake.

They can also be washed, colored and styled with hot irons!!

They are the best!

I ordered mine thru a salon or go to a salon supply store.

Give me the best answer!!!! I swear its the best option! You can put them in and take them out so easy and they stay in sooooo well!

Hair extensions Experiences??

i asked kinda the same question ...look up great lengths online. it is what all of the famous people have.

I just dyed my hair lighter and...?

well, my hair was dyed darkish brown before, very close to my natural hair color and my roots of natural undyed hair were like 5 inches long (you couldn't really tell). and yesterday i dyed it lighter--blondeish redish brownish?-- and the roots took it very well but the hair below my roots did not. the dyed part got a little lighter, but it's not as noticeable as the roots.

so my question is...should i dye it over the brown-dyed part again, or is it simply not going to get to the color i want?

by the way, i really don't want to have to go to a salon...i don't have that kind of money right now.

I just dyed my hair lighter and...?

If it isn't that noticable I wouldn't worry about it. But if you bugs you then yes, try dying that area again.

I just dyed my hair lighter and...?

try dying your hair again and use one of those root applying things. then dye the rest of your hair. Keep experimenting until u get wut u want.

I just dyed my hair lighter and...?

well id say your hair is pretty unhealthy not to take the color evenly, i have this problem so i think a haircut is probally going to be the only thing to help

I just dyed my hair lighter and...?

Do not color it again. Color on color goes DARKER so you will be very disappointed. Your hair is porous right now and it will grab the base color of the shade...ASH-GREEN, GOLDEN-RED.

If you want a more natural grow out since cost is a factor try to keep your base color as close to natural as possible. Then ask a friend to help you and buy a highlighting kit to lighten hair where you want. It has bleach in it so it will lift the browns, reds out better. You wont have a line of demarcation (grow out) as noticeable.

good luck

I just dyed my hair lighter and...?

DO NOT DYE IT AGAIN...your roots will grab the color better than the bottom since that is new growth virgin hair. you need a toner for your roots so that it can blend with the rest of your hair! good luck!

I just dyed my hair lighter and...?

Leave your hair alone for a week or so, then go to a professional. You don't want to overprocess your hair too much on your own, because it will cause a lot of damage.

MV had a great answer also.

Please, if you want to have hair, listen, and good luck.

I just dyed my hair lighter and...?

well the reason that your roots took the color and the ends didn't is because of the old color on the ends. Color doesn't lift Colored hair..... you'd have to use bleach to lift the ends then color over that to match it up. Bleaching your own hair is scary though! You could really cause some damage. I know you're against the salon thing, but sometimes salons run color specials so you might want to call around just to get a price quote, you might be suprised. Even maybe try a hair school. They are good at corrective color for a discounted price.

I just dyed my hair lighter and...?

The root area always appears lighter because it is natural and has not been exposed to any other chemical treatments. However, knowing this is not gonna help you. Try the "Nice and Easy" root touch up . It claims to have some colour match technology that adjusts to your colour so that you don't have that striped look. It's under $10 at the drug store. Good luck with your hair.

Dark hair?

I know that certain types of vinegar are supposed to subtly lighten your hair. Are there any ways (besides hair dye) to make hair appear darker? My hair is naturally a very dark brown. I put purple streaks in it a few months ago, but those faded to a red/orange color. Then I went and dyed it with my natural hair color dye. But that is fading and the red is starting to show again. so yeah. suggestions please?

Dark hair?

you can use tar soap , also henna washes, never ever dye your hair red or black or bleach it all of these are not reversible unless you are in for a nice short hair cut, also there is colored mouse u can you use it lasts a few washes and doesn't hurt your precious mane . If all else fails talk to your cosmetician at a beauty store

Dark hair?

go almost black and leav it on for 2/3 the recommended time...use an expensive color...that will last...

Dark hair?

thats what you get for putting purple streaks in it in the first place

Black hair has blue tint, can i fade the tint away?

I recently dyed my hair black [using revlon colorsilk it was about 3 dollars probably crappy] and it has a blueish tint that makes it unnatural. my natural hair color is mediumish darkish lightish brown. the box said permanet but my friend dyed her hair too and is getting brown spots on her head, i dont know if she missed the spots or her hair is coming back to normal, anyways, is there anyway to fade my hair to darkbrown or to a color that i can dye dark dark brown over it?

like if i wash it alot or go out in the sun?

thanks.

also are there any shampoos that tend to strip color a bit? thnxx

Black hair has blue tint, can i fade the tint away?

Hair doesn't "go" back to "normal", so if your friend has those spots in her hair, it means she did not get the color all over her head properly.

As for your hair, you can shampoo twice a day with baby shampoo to speed the color fade out, but since you used a very dark blue black, it could still take a while.

You cannot put another box of color over your head... it will not be able to remove the artificial pigment you've already put in. All you can do without going to a professional is let the black fade a bit, then color over the faded hair with something as dark or darker (shoot for a "warm" color to avoid blue tones)

Hope that helps!

Black hair has blue tint, can i fade the tint away?

I used to know this girl that had a purpleish tint in her hair on accident and it looked really good. so if the blue fits with u, just keep it

Black hair has blue tint, can i fade the tint away?

If you fade it, it will also fade the black away because it's the same dye. Try to use a toner in orange to counteract the blue. They are opposites on the color wheel so they will neutralize each other.

Black hair has blue tint, can i fade the tint away?

she probably messed her hair up somehow if she did it herself, it will fade after washing it for a while but if you cant wait then you should go to a salon and they can neutralize it with a dye thats has the opposite undertone, like a redish one, if you dont want to dye it again then use different shampoos for colored hair

Hair extension problem.?

I just got extensions today for the first time. And what are some tips I can get about them. They are sawed in. Like how do I wash them and stuff? And how do i make my natural hair blend more in with the extensions, so it doesn't show where my natural hair ends?

Thanks a lot!

Hair extension problem.?

wear your hair curly instead of straight to make it blend. also dont wash the extensions that much because they ruin it, just wash the top of your hair more where your real hair is. at night braid your hair so it wont get tangled or/and wear a headbandana because extensions get tangled real easy. brush your hair alot everyday to comb out the tangled and make sure before and after you take a shower to BRUSH YOUR HAIR! like i cant say it enough, brush your hair. ha.

Hair extension problem.?

Your hairdresser should have told you the care instructions before you left the shop. I would call them to find out.

Hair extension problem.?

the person should like...give u a pamphlet or something about the hair.

I would be totally stuck but i think u should've bought one of those ones that actually "clip" on ur hair.

Hair extension problem.?

for clear instructions, I would go to the site below, but yes, your salon should have told you..

Hair extension problem.?

i dont understand how your hair doesnt blend in with thee weave who did it first off you need to sue...anways straighten your regular hair (flat irons or a straighten comb)...t night you can wrap it around your head ask your mom to do it...use oil sheen any knid that you want and comb it but not when its already nice and look combed and you dont have to wash it all the timeand you can keep it in for at least 2 months and if its straight hair dont put gel or mouse in it jus use oils, oil sheen, or grease

I had my hair bleached, the girl didn't know what she was doing, how soon till I can dye my hai

I have been dying my hair for years. Recently I have been getting it bleached by a professional, but different ones. Yesterday a girl did it, and it was orange (my roots were, I'm natural brunette) I cried and cried so she bleached more and added more toner. I left the salon due to complete mental exaustion with peach colored hair. How soon is it safe to box dye it at home? I'm gonna go back to my natural hair color and never dye it again. It was that traumatic!!

Please help me!

I had my hair bleached, the girl didn't know what she was doing, how soon till I can dye my hair a darker colo

You should go back to the salon and give that girl a peice of your mind. You should be able to get your money back, most salons have a satisfaction garuntee.

If you really hate it, I would wait at least a week.... best, though, is a month....

I had my hair bleached, the girl didn't know what she was doing, how soon till I can dye my hair a darker colo

2 to 3 months keep it conditioned!! dont worry im sure u look fine

I had my hair bleached, the girl didn't know what she was doing, how soon till I can dye my hair a darker colo

Did you pay?

I wouldn't I'd be too pissed.

That girl does not know what she was doing.

I'd say in about 3-4 weeks.

I had my hair bleached, the girl didn't know what she was doing, how soon till I can dye my hair a darker colo

I think its safe to do it now. But idk

I had my hair bleached, the girl didn't know what she was doing, how soon till I can dye my hair a darker colo

it depends on when you got your hair dyed

I had my hair bleached, the girl didn't know what she was doing, how soon till I can dye my hair a darker colo

if you had the feeling that she didnt knw what the hell she was doing why did you let er continue?

I had my hair bleached, the girl didn't know what she was doing, how soon till I can dye my hair a darker colo

You should go back to the hairdressers And sue thm x

I had my hair bleached, the girl didn't know what she was doing, how soon till I can dye my hair a darker colo

Usually wait a day. In the mean time, buy some of that VO5 hot oil treatment and condition your hair. If you can't find that product, get a hair mask. Just condition your hair.

I've bleached my own hair many times, I've had the orange thing. I've completely destroyed my hair with bleach, but with the right conditioning, it's still there.

The concern is that the ends of your hair are dried out, if you dye your hair with your hair like that, then the ends will be dark and the rest will be lighter. So, condition your hair for a day. Then work on dying tomorrow.

I personally wouldn't go too dark, do a light brown (not blonde because you don't want any additional peroxide in your hair). Avoid any colors with the name "auburn, strawberry, golden or ash", your hair already has this peachy tone to it, so if you go strawberry blonde, then it will be red/orange/pink/yucky!

After you dye your hair, to keep the color from fading, make sure you condition daily, shampoo every other day.

You'll be fine...I guess you could even box dye yourself right away, but it is a better idea to take a day of conditioning it.

I had my hair bleached, the girl didn't know what she was doing, how soon till I can dye my hair a darker colo

you can go right n ow if you want. it should be safe. heres some more hair dying tips if you need them

I had my hair bleached, the girl didn't know what she was doing, how soon till I can dye my hair a darker colo

buy some hair cholestrol and put in in your hair and leave it in all day. just put in in a bun . do this for several days. wait like 4 days and dye it back to brown, but keep puttting the cholestrol in your hair. your hair is going to still feel some what dry, but just trim it every few months and continue to condition it . you will be okay. i had the same thing happend to me when i got high lights

I had my hair bleached, the girl didn't know what she was doing, how soon till I can dye my hair a darker colo

For now I would do deep condition treatments by applying leave in conditioner on wet hair. Whether you wait or do it now, your hair is now porous not allowing for the dye to grab onto the hair follicle. If you dye your hair darker there is a possibility of your hair turning green or later fading out. Therefore, I would begin by choosing color shades that are closer to what your hair is now and gradually go to the color shade that you wish to have it at. I would either return to the salon you just had your hair dyed and have them reimburse you or re-dye your hair. They should be able to accommodate you for your inconvenience at no charge. Just make sure that they explain to you what the process will be prior to having anything done.

What is the best hair dye from a box if I wanted to dye my hair red?

I always go to a salon to have my hair dyed i never use the stuff you buy at walgreens or anything because Im afraid of the outcome. But recently it has become to expensive for me to upkeep my hair color.

I dye my hair red and I know that's one of the hardest hair colors to upkeep. Which brand of box hair color is the best in your opinion for dying hair red that wont fade after one week or come out absolutly horrible? My natural hair color is a medium brown. Thanks you guys!!

What is the best hair dye from a box if I wanted to dye my hair red?

Choose a shade from Clairol Natural Instincts. It will fade very slowly, so you won't have roots. You wash it in about every three weeks. It is not expensive, and you can even find good coupons for a couple of dollars off the price. They have several red shades, and one of them should work nicely for you.

What is the best hair dye from a box if I wanted to dye my hair red?

Try L'oreal. Really good! Just look around your local drug stores. Most stuff is good.

What is the best hair dye from a box if I wanted to dye my hair red?

there is a hair dye that i think is by loreal that is 100% color. i have brown hair and dye it red as well and this has stayed in my hair for months, the box is red and it dosent cost to much. the best part is if you have really long hair they give you enough in the bottle to only have to buy one box. it has highlights in it as well so it turns out really good when your done.

What do i do with my hair??!!?

I desperately need a good piece of advice!

My natural hair color is dark blond.I dyed it black with permanent dye a year ago. When i got bored of black no.1,i let my hair grow back to its natural color.Less than half of my hair was blond and the rest of it,black.I couldn't wait any longer for it to grow back,so i got a pro hairdresser dye my hair red. Now,i got two colors in my hair and i'm so embarassed of going out!!What can i do???I can't dye it again or bleach it,cause my hair is thin and ready to fall apart!!Please, help me!!!

What do i do with my hair??!!?

I'd say seek professional help. You shouldn't do anymore yourself or your hair could fall out. get someone to do it who knows what they are doing.

What do i do with my hair??!!?

I heard if you add some hair bleach peroxide into your shampoo and conditioner, it removes the dye colour from your hair and turns it back to natural.

I dont know the measurements though, sorry.

What do i do with my hair??!!?

to get healthier hair take codliver oil (gelcaps) and use products w/ panthenol.

What do i do with my hair??!!?

Just shave your head and wear a wig. Brit Spears can do it why can't you?

What do i do with my hair??!!?

Oh gee, I accidentally dyed my hair purple once. I would advise you to get a cute hair cut to maybe get rid of most of the black. If that isn't an option, you could try wearing it up in different styles to hide as much as you can. I would also recommend a product called Anti-Snap by Redken to help with the damage. Patience is probably best to avoid more damage.

What do i do with my hair??!!?

nLEMON JUICE ALONG WITH PEROXIDE,WASH OR RINSE HAIR WITH IT.CHLORINE DARKENS HAIR TOO,SO SWIM ALOT

What hair Color to Choose?

hi im looking for a good hair color that would fit my skin and eye color to look more natural...i have hazel eyes and tanned skin ..my natural hair color is medium-dark brown.....what hair color would best fit me???

What hair Color to Choose?

Lime Green.

Hell yes.

A Hair Fusion?? undetectable? really? lol?

i wonder if you can feel the connections between the natural hair and the commercial hair. or can you just run you fingers through the hair and feel absolutely natural????

A Hair Fusion?? undetectable? really? lol?

It depends on what kind of hair you use. After a while, the hair will get dry and then you get new extensions.. but it doesn't remain silky smooth like the beginning for a long time. There are a lot of varieties of hair out there. You just gotta find the one you like most.

Hair coloring?

is there a shampoo that makes your natural hair darker not like making a blonde into a black haired person but slightly darkining the hair

(i ask because i have naturaly a dirty orange like the color you get when u dye your hair red and it fades not liike the bright orange) and i die it medium brown and just so when the roots grow out i can have a few more weeks b4 i actualy have to dye it again as my hair grows fast) like i said not majoirly change it just make it a shade or 2 darker

Hair coloring?

there's several tinted shampoos you can get. pantene makes a good one and it's not that expensive. it doesn't make a big difference but it will give some tint to your hair

Hair coloring?

try using a shampoo with henna in as henna enhances naturally dark hair bringing out the different tones in the hair.

Hair coloring?

No, I don't think so, there is hair products that can make it lighter.

If you want it a bit darker you could put dark coffee in your shampoo and use it for a while, it wouldnt be permanent ,and thats a really weird remedy.

If you want it darker so bad go get it done darker. ;D

Hair coloring?

there are shampoos for blonds, red head and brunettes but i think they are for people who colour their hair and it helps the colour last longer. i don't think they make a mjor diifferene. try one of those root correctors i believe l'oreal or clariol makes them. they should match the colour that u die your hair and cover your roots until u die again.

Hair coloring?

Yes, try a shampoo by Loreal Professional called Artec. They are tinting formulas and will refresh your color nicely. Use it like once a week, but it can be a little messy in the tub. Make sure you get it all off the tiles!!

MY hAIR!! my hair is soo hard to do.?

i HAVE VERY THICK HAIR !! There's a problem i dont want to use regular hair shampoos u go buy at the store. I want use natural hair shampoos that u can find in the back of your refrigerator. I just want it to go grow longer. Does anybody have any ideas that maybe their grandma told them to to do for their hair :) PLZ I need some help. I just want to try for 1 year any ideas. :) Also CAN ANYONE TELL ME ABOUT THE MAYONNAISE AND THE EGG YOLKS PLZ!! WHAT DO YOU DO W/ THEM?

MY hAIR!! my hair is soo hard to do.?

I don't know about refigerator shampoos, but my mother-in-law told me about a home made hair rinse.

Talk a gallon of water and add about a 1tablespoon of vinegar and use it as an after shampoo rinse. For some reason, it really makes your hair nice. I think it strips off all the old shampoo and wax and restores the ph. Not sure why, but it works.

MY hAIR!! my hair is soo hard to do.?

GIRL,DON'T USE REFRIGERATOR HAIR SHAMPOO.

USE REGULAR SHAMPOO.USE RELAXER ON YOUR HAIR AND THEN PRESS IT OR STRIAGHTEN IT. KEEP DOING THAT EVERY TWO WEEKS.IT MIGHT GROW LONGER.

MY hAIR!! my hair is soo hard to do.?

how long is your hair then i could help you im mixed with black and wite and i have curly and thick hair and its short i know how to do it so e-mail me and tell me whats going on

I really want to dye my hair black!?

I really want to but the thing is I heard once you dye your hair black its basically impossible to get out without damaging your hair tremendously if you don't like it. Well I have dark brown hair and I have my entire life. I heard that you shouldn't dye your hair black if your pale. Well I'm naturally pretty tan since I'm italian and greek. In the winter of course I get lighter and this is what I look like now. http://i25.tinypic.com/2hz0r34.jpg

i asked my hair stylist what she thinks and she said that it probably wouldn't be a good color but its only like a shade or two darker then what my natural hair color is now! I want a soft black, NOT BLUE BLACK. Just a soft natural black. What do you think?

I really want to dye my hair black!?

dont dye it black please,it'll look too harsh since your eyes are green, insteed some honey blonde highlights would be preferable.

I really want to dye my hair black!?

I like it better the way it is now.

I really want to dye my hair black!?

hmm...I have dark hair like yours and I dyed it jet black...actually very few people except for family and close friends noticed..I am sure it would look nice on you and you can pull it off..

something to keep in mind though..it will take up to six months minimum for the color to fade..its so permanent and if you do not like it ( hopefully you will if you do) then you are STUCK !

good luck--I dyed mine natural black also

I really want to dye my hair black!?

You should keep it!

I really want to dye my hair black!?

i think black hair would really suit you. it doesnt seem as if its going to wash you out, and i think its going to look good on you. good luck!

I really want to dye my hair black!?

why don't you get a black rinse or semi permanent before you dye it black just to see if you like it. It'll naturally wash out in about 20 or so washes. That's not harsh on your hair.

I really want to dye my hair black!?

listen to your stylist.

Hair color help (funky colors)?

I want to dye my hair a noticable red color, either really bright or really dark. im not going for a 'natural' look, i want it to stand out, while still being practical. however, i cannot find any good examples, products or pictures, so any advice on the subject would be greatly appreciated. And, if you have any advice on convinsing my mother, well that'll help too! i already have shoulder length orange-red natural hair. its very dull and i want it to be bold. simple enough, eh?

Hair color help (funky colors)?

you could try using Manic Panic, in a deep red, it is only a semi perminant hair color, they make it in all kinds of colors includint a deep red and a vibrant red, also it fades out in a few weeks so if you didnt like it then its no big deal, you could use it for highlights or how ever you wanted, its like 8 bucks at sallys beauty supply

Hair color help (funky colors)?

Maybe something like this (brighter red but still practical and cute)

Here's a picture.

Or just search photobucket for Hayley Williams (she has amazing red hair.)

To convince your mom, I say you pull out the poor pitiful me act. Just say "Mom, I really think brightening my hair would make me feel better about myself, blahblah.." Haha. Worked for me.

Hair color help (funky colors)?

bright red is a great choice if you want noticable, unique hair! I've had bright red hair before and I used L'oreal Color Rays in red:

http://www.walgreens.com/dbimagecache/31...

It's a highlighting kit but eh you can still use it to dye your whole head. I did many times and it turned out bright, bold, and eye-catching.

I dyed my hair without my mother's approval and she pretty much spazzed. I just calmly explained to her that "it's my hair and I have the right to do what I want with it. It'd be nice if you'd let me dye my hair and experience new things at this age while I'm still young. because when I'm older I won't be able to do these things anymore without looking stupid". She was cool about it :]

this page has tons of picture of red hair:

Oh yeah and one more thing. Red is the fastest fading color. if you want to mantain the color, use shampoo and conditioner by John Frieda. you can find it anywhere, like at wal mart.

Can my hair be rejecting hair extensions. My real hair is falling out with the extensions?

PLEASE HELP!

I had pre bonded hair extensions put in 2 days ago and 3 of the extensions have come out with my natural hair.

Im so scared that im going to end up bald. I dont know what to do. I went back to the hairdressers this morning and she told me that my hair is not accepting the extensions, and instead of taking them out (which you would of thought would be the only thing to do if my hair is not accepting them) she sold me a shampoo and conditioner called nioxine. She said the same happened to her and she started using this shampoo and it stopped falling out. She said that she had 6 fall out.

Im not sure i am prepared to wait and see if they stop falling out with this shampoo, or just go to another haordressers and get them removed.

The other thing is... I have just moved to malta and got them done here, do you think I should fly back to the UK and get them sorted there?

Can my hair be rejecting hair extensions. My real hair is falling out with the extensions?

just get them out. glue in extensions give you bald patches and are really unhealthy for your hair. xx

Can my hair be rejecting hair extensions. My real hair is falling out with the extensions?

If you have fragile hair and add extensions, it can break off because of the weight added by having extensions put in. they should be delicately removed. And then have deep conditioning treatments. Some people should not use extensions for this very reason

Help! Highlights on dark brown color treated hair...? Am I doing this right?

I just bought a box of permanent medium brown hair color which usually makes my hair dark brown and closer to my natural hair color. I also bought a highlighting kit which includes one highlighting head cap and two hooks. First, I'm going to use the medium brown hair color to cover my roots and make my hair all one color. Then, I'm going to use the highlighting kit. I DO NOT want ORANGE highlights! I always seem to end up with orange chunks in my hair! I'm aiming for light brown highlights that are noticeable, but natural looking! Any advice?

Help! Highlights on dark brown color treated hair...? Am I doing this right?

I have dark brown hair and put highlites in it about once a month. Doing what you say may leave you with dry brittle hair or all broken off so short you will have to get it cut. if you are going to dye your hair, do that first, wait a couple of week and then put the highlites in it. try a spot first to see how long you need to leave the lightening stuff on. I had pink highites once! I have also had it bleach out so white it broke off. I have also had orange highlites cause I didn't leave it on long enough. Dying your hair will make it weak so be carefull if your hair is already dry and damaged. My daughter and I did the same thing for her and her highlites were orange. She finally had to to cut her hair short to get the most of the orange out and let her hair grow out.

Help! Highlights on dark brown color treated hair...? Am I doing this right?

yes!

good luck!

Help! Highlights on dark brown color treated hair...? Am I doing this right?

this is very tricky... my advise is get it professionally done

Help! Highlights on dark brown color treated hair...? Am I doing this right?

i don't think you'll get "light brown" highlights from a highlighting kit alone. if you only leave it on for 5-10 mins then your color will lighten to a reddish tone, but not light brown....it goes red, orange, gold, yellow, light yellow (banana color). My advice is to do the highlights the maximum time and then rinse them and dye them whatever shade of light brown you want them.

good luck!

Can Perming Your Hair Permanently Alter Its Texture?

This question may sound ridiculous to some, but still...please don't be rude. I'm just searching for an answer so if you have one, that would be helpful. The reason I'm asking this question is because an aunt of mine relaxed (permed straight) her naturally tightly curled afro-like hair when she was young, and now, almost twenty years later, she is left with a completely different and un-natural hair texture. I guess the best way you could describe it as is 閳ユ笩traight.閳?Not the nice and smooth kind, though. I'm talking about the kind that is dull, limp, lifeless, stringy, difficult to manage, etc. Kinda strange how that happened, huh? I guess what I'd like to know is...has this ever happened to you or anyone you know? Because from what I know, a perm is only permanent on the hair that is permed. The new hair that grows in is supposed to resemble the original texture of your hair. My aunt's hair proves otherwise, though. I閳ユ獡 a little afraid of perming my hair now. Could anyone please offer some kind of logical explanation to how this could've happened? Thanks in advance!

Can Perming Your Hair Permanently Alter Its Texture?

Yeah, it'll only affect the hair that was permed. Any new growth will be healthy and normal.

Can Perming Your Hair Permanently Alter Its Texture?

it depends on ya hair type...but yes

Can Perming Your Hair Permanently Alter Its Texture?

Well if your perming it straight...then it makes it like that...all crappy looking but if its curly it will look great and only stay in until your natural hair grows back and your natural hair wont change within your scalp.

Can Perming Your Hair Permanently Alter Its Texture?

I think no, as the chemicals are only doing their thing on the exposed hair and wouldn't be able to effect what's below the scalp, or what hasn't grown yet. My mother in law claims her husband's hair was made curlier after a perm in the 80's, and remains still curly due to that perm. That just isn't possible. She also thinks my twins came from her side! Hey, her son's sperm ain't that spectacular, causing me to drop two eggs!

How does hair stripper work? does it take out your natural colour as well?

Hairstripper works by removing the dye that is on your hair follicles. It reminds me of when you were a little kid and would rub a crayon over paper and then use something to remove the wax to see the paper underneath. It does not remove your natural color but it does leave your hair damaged and dry. If you choose to have your hair stripped be sure to get a good leave-in conditioner so as to avoid any further damage.

How does hair stripper work? does it take out your natural colour as well?

Thanks! Report It

How does hair stripper work? does it take out your natural colour as well?

well it is just like a dye it can add color and won't ruin the real color

A hair cut to a slimmer face?

i have a round face shape, i don't have double chin or anything just cheeks, my forehead is not small but not wide either, and the tip of my nose is kinda big. my eyes are medium sized and brown, and i have long dark eyebrows, olive skin, kinda pinkish. my natural hair colour is dark brown, my hair is medium lengh (mid back lengh) and wavey.

i want a hair style that gives an illusion of a slimmer face and doesn't need much of care and time, and gives volume to my hair.

do u suggest any colours also? ive never coloured my hair.. and i like bangs..but do u think they will suit me?

A hair cut to a slimmer face?

I too have a round face, as does my mom and brother - and none of us are overweight, either...my grandma gave us this feature (bless her), so it is genetics!

Check out the links below -- they're just for us - lots of tips and examples for a flattering cut...enjoy! {Yes, you can have bangs, just keep them 'wispy' and/or somewhat to the side!}

Also, having a round face tends to make us look younger than most people -- at my high school reunion - people I hadn't seen in 20 years thought I was the youngest looking one in the bunch!

p.s. - don't colour your pretty hair - sounds like its perfect...check out magazines or talk to someone at a good salon first!

A hair cut to a slimmer face?

bangs and angles

A hair cut to a slimmer face?

I have the same sort of face and have had my long hair cut into a bob with it layered around my face so now my face looks round.

It stays in place for about 3 days without having to put rollers or heated brush on it. Looks elegant I am told as well as you can dress it up with a glittering clip for evening wear as well.

A hair cut to a slimmer face?

i have a round face and for yeras i just thought my head was extra big. Turns out the haircut i've been getting for 10 years straight made it look that way. I cut it shoulder length all the time cause i was so used to it. I started growing up my hair with thick bangs and lots of layers. By thinning the bottem layers turns out, my heads not that big! So you can keep your length but get lots of layer and you can get angled cuts to make your face look slimmer. Btw having a round face isnt bad its just how you were born and i think its kinda cute on girls.

Unkosher hair?

Question for Israeli Ladies: How can hair be unkosher?

It may only be about hair, but a rabbi's ruling that wigs imported from India are "unkosher" has caused a ruckus in some of Israel's religious communities.

http://216.109.125.130/search/cache?ei=u...

Do I get that right? Just because these wigs are made of hair which were used in an "idol worship"? (what ever that might be ????) What is behind all this?

If a woman is covering her hair for religious or culturel reasons, is it not a fake to wear a wig anyway? Some women might look better and get more attention wearing a wig then with their natural hair. What's the purpose for covering up that way?

Right now it makes no sense to me, but maybe someone please can give me a satisfying explanation.

Thanks in advance.

Unkosher hair?

Orthodox Jews are VERY observant. They view the worship of any other God or Gods to be idolatry.. If they feel someone that would be considered idolatorous was using an item, that item is considered "ritually unclean"..

Married Jewish women cover their hair as a sign of modesty and to only allow their husband the honor of seeing their true beauty..

--------------

A deeper look at the Jewish concept of modesty.

I converted over three years ago and have been married now for a year and a half. There are a few areas I struggle with but one sticks out as being the hardest: covering my hair.

Right now, when I go to a religious function or to the synagogue, I wear a hat over my shoulder-length hair. At work I do not cover my hair. Aside from the issue of if I should be covering my head, I am feeling that I am consigning myself to a certain social circle for how I cover my hair. I have also heard that the extent to which one keeps kosher can be "viewed" by whether one covers her head. All of this saddens me and makes me reflect on how we as Jews do not love each other the way we should.

I can also add that people in my life who are not orthodox (i.e. my mother, some friends who are Jewish but not observant and colleagues at work) would react negatively to my covering my hair. I tried making a start by covering my hair all day Friday -- I work at home and run errands at lunch. One non-observant acquaintance saw me and in the middle of the kosher market said, "Since when are you covering your hair? Is this something new?" I felt so embarrassed as other women in wigs began to look closer at me. I just shook my head and changed the subject.

I am torn. Part of me wants to cover my hair, but part of me does not. All this makes me feel guilty for not covering my hair, and I wish there was a solution.

I worry that my career path will be hampered if I suddenly chose to cover my hair. I hate to call attention to myself and I feel in a way it's not modest since people will be drawn to looking at me to examine how I changed.

Finally there is my mother, who takes it all so hard, and being an only child I feel guilty that I am making her feel uncomfortable and angry, and I feel resentful that I still care about what she would feel more than what God asks of me.

Thankfully my husband is understanding and has indicated that when it is right for me, if it is right for me, it's all up to me -- his mother did not cover her hair until later in life.

I would appreciate any words or comments you have about this particular law and also the bigger picture that perhaps everyone can relate to: being observant in the face of society's "approval."

Sincerely,

Tearing my hair out.

Rebbetzin Feige responds:

My dear reader,

The first note of clarification needs to be that the objective of God's commandments is not the betterment of society as a whole or how we might appear to others, but rather how the mitzvot (commandments) speak to us personally, and how they enhance and promote the requisite spiritual growth of the individual who observes them.

A mitzvah (commandment) is a communication between the 'Metzvave,' the Commander (God), and the person who has wisely chosen to observe His expressed will, thereby forging a personal relationship with the Master of the universe. Society and the people around us are merely incidental and peripheral to the process.

As you correctly noted, covering the hair for a woman is indeed only part of a bigger picture.

Philosophically, the issue at hand is the existential struggle between focusing on the external or the internal dimensions of life. The external is the physical, material world of appearances that incessantly and compellingly beckons to us. This includes the never-ending drive to sate our appetites. It encompasses the needs of eating, drinking, sleeping, clothing ourselves, careers, acquisition of money, buying bigger and more beautiful homes, cars, vacations etc, etc. All of these drives are part of the world of the proverbial hunt. Arguably, the pursuit of the blandishments of the external world can be all consuming and, as such, can conceivably take us far off course from a life of purpose and meaning.

The internal world is the world of the spirit. Its voice is quieter and its demands on the human being more subtle and admittedly drowned out by the loud chatter of external pressures. But to ignore the needs of the soul is to ultimately deny one's raison d'etre -- the reason for being on this earth.

Tzniut is the de-emphasis of the outer self that enables the essential self to emerge.

The Almighty, in His great Wisdom, has provided us with the laws of Tzniut, variously translated as modesty, privacy. Better yet, Tzniut is the de-emphasis of the outer self that enables the essential self to emerge. Practically speaking, this means that our behavior in speech, dress, and in the way we carry ourselves should convey the message to ourselves primarily and to others secondarily that I need to be attractive and not attracting.

Attracting undue attention to my physical self proclaims that the totality of my person inheres in the physical presentation, that what you see is what you get. In contrast, when I am private and modest in my demeanor and to the extent I expose only that which is appropriate, my statement is that my body, important as it is, is no more than a vehicle for my essence. I am making the statement that it is indeed my character, my personality, my attributes which are the expression of the image of God in which I am created.

Consider the absurd end of the spectrum -- the tabloids and the various magazines at the checkout counters, the flaunting of flesh that screams "Look at me!" "This is who I am!" Where is the sense of the greater dignity that emanates from the fact that one's essence is drawn from God Himself? Clearly, there is no appreciation that there is so much more to a human being than their configuration which, no matter how impressive, ultimately has no enduring existence. In the end, everything that is physical wanes, dies and decays. It is only our internal spirit which is part and parcel of the Almighty that is eternal and timeless.

The external world of the hunt is primarily a man's domain. It is the sphere which man exercises his power and finds fulfillment. It is he, though not exclusively, who has historically been responsible for going out there to make a living by manipulating and exploiting the external environment.

The thrust of a woman's life is best captured by King David in the book of Psalms, who states, "the dignity of the daughter of a king is her inwardness." Hers is the inner stage of life, the private sector, the personal, the home, and by extension the one quintessentially able to connect with the inner springs of her person. Her inner place is the source of her superior ability to relate, to intuit, to perceive, to care, and to nurture. A woman has the greater wherewithal to look inside of herself for fulfillment and true gratification.

Anne Lindbergh, in her book Gift from the Sea, writes,

"Woman must be the pioneer in the turning inward for strength. In a sense, she has always been the pioneer. Less able until the last generation, to escape into outward activities, the very limitations of her life forced her to look inward. And from looking inward she gained an inner strength which man in his outward active life, did not as often find. But in our recent efforts to emancipate ourselves, to prove ourselves the equal of man, we have naturally enough perhaps, been drawn to competing him in his outward activities to the neglect of our own inner springs. Why have we been seduced into abandoning this timeless inner strength of woman, for the temporal strength of man? The outer strength of man is essential to the pattern, but even here the reign of purely outer strengths and purely outward solutions seem to be waning today. Men, too, are being forced to look inward -- to find inner solutions as well as outer ones. Perhaps, this change marks a new stage of maturity for modern, extrovert, activist, materialistic man. Can it be that he is beginning to realize that the Kingdom of Heaven is from within?"

Often times, the stimulus for a woman to go inward and to connect to her core are life changing events, such as life threatening illnesses (God forbid), losses, and various forms of adversity. Something that challenges the status quo motivates her to take stock and evaluate the authenticity of her life.

Hair covering serves as a constant reminder for a woman to focus on the inner beauty inside of her.

For observant women who are tuned in and listen carefully, the mitzvah of Tzniut -- of dressing modestly and covering one's hair after marriage -- serve as a powerful medium to raise our consciousness and maintain our awareness that we must be inner directed. The hair, which is a woman's 'crowning beauty,' is covered when a woman leaves the confines of her home. In a sense, her full beauty is reserved exclusively for her husband. The foreign object, be it a hat or wig, no matter how attractive, is foreign, nonetheless, and constantly reminds a woman to focus on the inner beauty inside of her.

In a behavioral way when we go out there to interface with the powerful world of illusion, we center ourselves with a reality check. We cover our hair in an attempt to somewhat conceal our external selves, so that we might reveal and plug into the internal.

The commentators note that a woman covers her eyes when she lights the Shabbat candles, to block out the external world -- that which is only virtual reality -- so that she might apprehend the true, real world of the spirit. Similarly, when we recite the Shema, our ultimate statement of faith in God, we cover our eyes to our immediate external surroundings and move deep inside of ourselves to get in touch with what is real and enduring.

Assuredly, observant women must take care to always look pleasant, clean and appealing. Not to do so would reflect negatively on the God whose imprint she bears.

Bottom line, the concept of Tzniut cautions us that to get seduced by a culture that is obsessed with externalities is to abandon our very core and essence.

My husband has suggested the following additional philosophic framework for covering one's hair. Hair, in Jewish sources, is representative of the Yetzer Harah, the base inclination. Consider Esau, Jacob's evil twin brother who has born hairy, furry, animalistic. Hair grows in the areas of our body that are most closely associated with appetites that require discipline and self-control; the mouth, pubic area, the head, the brain. While we cannot control whether hair will grow or not, we can choose our response to the challenge it represents.

The domain in the male in his service to God is within the sanctification of time. It is preferably he who should usher in the Sabbath and holidays by the recitation of the Kiddush. The Nazir, who takes on a vow to abstain from wine and live in a heightened sense of purity, lets his hair grow for 30 days. Hence, in responding to the challenge of hair which represents unbridled appetite, a man is required to deal with it in time. He cuts his hair before holidays. A Kohen Gadol, (high priest) had to cut his hair once a week. A king was required by Jewish law to cut his hair every day. All of these are time connected.

The Jewish woman's role is seen within the sanctification of space -- the space of the home, the womb, etc. The woman expresses her understanding of the need to govern her Yetzer Harah, i.e. the growth of hair that symbolizes appetite, by creating a space around her head. Thus, by exercising her prerogative as the sanctifier of space, she creates a boundary around her head through the covering she wears.

Whether this approach resonates with you or not, when a married woman chooses to abide by the requirements of Halacha, (Jewish law) to cover her hair, when she leaves the context of her home, one thing is very clear: Covering one's hair is a very cogent reminder, moment to moment, that she is a married woman. Regardless of how attractive that hair covering might be [it may even be more attractive than one's own hair], it is, nonetheless, a foreign object which creates an undeniable awareness of one's marital status. Especially in our times when the barriers to the genders interacting freely have been removed and the opportunities, both socially and in the workplace, abound, there can never be too many reminders that we are committed to the exclusive covenant of our marriage.

My dear reader, taking into account everyone's reaction, sensitive as it might be, does not serve you well or give you peace. To your own self be true and everyone else will ultimately adjust. I sense that your level of observance and the kind of conversion to which you committed your life involved the acceptance of all mitzvot (commandments). You have to assume responsibility for your decision.

Those who question the level of your kashrut (observance of dietary laws) or that of others based on whether they cover their hair, are merely stating that since they have neither the time nor the opportunity to examine every home in question, they can safely assume that one who commits themselves to all of the mitzvot can also be trusted in the standard of their kashrut. It's not a value judgment of their personhood. It is merely a way of attempting to maintain the integrity of a commitment that, to them, is very precious.

All of us, my dear reader, are on a journey towards becoming the best we can be. There are times in everyone's life when we are torn. We hear conflicting voices inside of us, simultaneously urging us in different directions. There are times when we have to keep moving up the mountain and other times when we need to stop and catch our breath. This might be a good time to enlist the guidance of someone you respect to help you gain some clarity and perspective.

Your husband is wise to leave it up to you. He knows that your agonizing is a product of a desire to do the right thing. And I am sure that you will. I wish you all the best.

Unkosher hair?

Bull sperm conditioner...it's the new thing I hear.

Maybe that's not very relevant but what is so very kosher about a synthetic and badly styled wig that frankly looks very wig-like, what's wrong with a ladies own hair?

Unkosher hair?

This is the least of the things you won't understand about Judaism until you "try it on." Please don't judge us until you've had a chance to experience a few of our traditions. It's not something you can do by simply having a change of heart. That's why it takes at least a year of study before one can convert to Judaism.

Our laws are not "all or nothing," i.e. heaven or hell. We strive to add holiness to our lives. How do you add holiness to your life?
