Hair Weave?

Hi,

I'm a African American woman new to hair weave. I got some weave sewn in a few weeks ago w/out a perm. My natural hair is out at the top and blended into the weave. I now need a perm. Do I have to get the whole weave takenout and sew in again, or can the stylist just perms my natural exposed hair at the top and on the sides? Thanks!!!!

Please don't just relax that section of your hair. What will u do when u take the sew in out and only that section of ur hair has been relaxed? U have a big mess thats what........ either take the sew in out and get a relaxer over ur whole head or continue to wear a natural style, and use a flat iron to get the natural hair that is exposed to blend with the weave. I do not recommend wearing ur same weave for a year. That is entirely too long to keep any type of extensions in the hair. U need to be able to properly clean ur own hair u cant do that when ur hair is braided underneath a weave. U need to be able to shampoo and properly rinse the hair that is in the braid as well. The person doing ur sew in should have suggested all of these things to u before the sew in to ensure this was the best style for u and ur lifestyle. And suggested maintenance for the exposed natural hair. Try to wear the style u have for 3 months and after that, find u someone that is really specializing in those sew ins girl, for the best way to upkeep ur hair. Good luck, and more hair!!!

i believe the stylist can just relax the natural hair that is showing; i don't believe there's a need to take the entire weave out. getting a retouch to your own hair and your own hair alone should be just fine. =]

Hair Weave?

No, no, no....i would seriously talk you against getting a perm. It's not helathy for you or your hair.... i say Go natural! i would, with or without weave, advice you against perming.

Honestly I've never heard of a hairstylist relaxing a head with weave in it. I believe it has to be taken out. Your best bet is to contact some hairstylist and explain to them your situation.

Hair Weave?

Hey,

I get weaves all the time! (I have one in there now, actually!!) And you definately can get your stylist to just relax the hair that is out. I know people who have kept their hair in the same weave for a year (they had some REALLY REALLY good weave like $500) and their hair stylist just put a relaxer on the exposed hair every so often. Just PLEASE make sure that the person you go to specializes in weaves so they wont mess you up!!

Hair Weave?

No, No, I'm used to wearing weaves. Get a flat iron/hot comb %26amp; straighten your hair on the tops %26amp; sides; %26amp; make sure to keep it straightened until your ready to take the weave out. I beileve your stylist can just perm the top %26amp; sides of your head ; But it'd be better just hot comb/flat iron it .

You would need to take out the weave and perm all of your hair. if you only perm the portion that is showing on top - when ever you decide to take your weave out and wear your natural hair, that small portion on top will be the only part that is straight ( permed ) while the rest is still kinky/curly or if you decide that you want your part in another spot you'll have to re-perm it. My advice to you is to perm your entire hair, it's easier that way, if I can help you more - feel free to email me
