I need help going natural?

im black %26amp; what i really want to do is to go natural with my hair, but i dont kno of a way to go from my permed hair, to natural hair without cutting it all off.

is there some kind of transition method i could use??

please dont post any ``go to the salon`` answers, becuz they dont tell me whas right. %26amp; do i have to constantly go to the hair dresser? %26amp; how long before my hair can become a manageable length?

Go natural means you leave your hair alone and let it be natural. You are asking for things to do to it, but if you do anything to it, it won't be natural. Just let it grow and style it how you want to. Might take a couple months to grow long and manageable, but you can't control that, especially not 'naturally.'

i do not believe their is because one you start perming it an you stop your hear will get rough and almost unmanageable but if you can go through 6 onths of that your hair wound grow. But some women's hair have been known to fall off in the process.

You can't. There's a reason they're called "permanents." Sorry. And hair grows about an inch a month, not much more and not much less.

There might be some sort of shampoo or conditioner that you can use to straighten your hair. If not, you could probably just use a straightener. But if you no longer want the perm, cutting it all off might be the best option if you don't want to wait for it to grow out.

i won't tell you to go to the salon, but i sure would be careful who i get my instructions from, since your black, you know that black hair is fragile, and that you can't put things on it that caucasin hair has on it, and some of the people answering these questions, don't have enough knowledge about hair to understand the difference........ a stylist

I would suggest is ask your stylist (sorry). If you are not satisfied with that answer, try going to a Dominican hair salon. They do all types of hair and they do it differently from black hair stylists. I have tried them both and am much happier going to the Dominican salon.

I went natural after my hair fell out from a side-affect of medication. I have had my hair permed since, but I am still able to keep it natural. I use Motions Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner to keep it from getting dried out. I wash my hair 1-2 times per week and keep it conditioned with Cantu daily leave-in conditioning creme. Cantu can be found at your local drugstore in the black hair product section. I hope this helps.

You can apply perm solution to your hair and comb it through. Keep combing until you see the hair begin to straighten. You can actually comb it completely straight. Then thoroughly rinse your hair with warm water, again for five minutes to be sure all the solution is out.Follow with the neutralizer and leave this on your hair for the recommended time, usually 5 minutes. Follow with a good conditioner. This is something that is best done by a professional because you run the risk of your hair breaking if not monitored closely.

If you are determined to do it yourself, make sure that you use a good perm purchased at a beauty supply that sells to the general public. They can answer any more questions you may have.

Visit www.nappturality.com. All of your questions will be answered. This is a site that was put together by an African American woman that is dedicated to women who wear their hair naturally (unaltered chemically). There are helpful tips, styles, pictures, etc all on how to transition from the relaxer to natural hair.

Try transitioning by wearing braids and/or wigs and start cutting your permed hair off. Stay in the braids or wigs until your hair gets to a length you're happy with.
