Any hair dying info and tips?

I have been wanting to dye my hair and already know what color I want. I have been told that once I dye it, I have to keep dying it since the roots will come out my natural hair color and it will look weird and patchy. Do I really have to stick with the same color my whole life? Can I do anything about the roots and get my natural hair color back when I want it?

I'd really like some helpful info and tips. Thanks.

Once you 'color' your hair, it's best to do touch-ups when your roots come in. It's not pretty looking at say, a red-head when her dark brunette roots are coming in.

No, you do not have to stick with the same color, you can color your hair whatever colors you want, but, it will be difficult to get your natural hair color back. You can color it back to your natural color, but, you will have to repeat the process a lot b/c your hair will not hold the color in. Basically, if you want your natural hair color back after bleaching, for example, you will either have to repeat the coloring process maybe every 6 weeks or so, or wait for your hair to grow out. If you don't have the money to upkeep your hair, I suggest coloring your hair to something close to your natural hair color now. A little lighter doesn't hurt, and people will notice the lighter color.

You don't have to do the same color every time. You can use a root touch up when your hair begins to grow out.

If you are not sure what color you want use a temporary color to start with. It will only last 2-3 weeks, but you can tell if you like it before going permanent. Once you start using permanent color it takes a while to get you natural color back.

Choose a dye that has conditioner and use a shampoo for color treated hair.

you can switch it up. I due mine lighter in the summer time %26amp; a shade or two darker in the winter. As far as how often to dye it; it depends on how fast your hair grows. Most people can go 6-8 weeks. There is a root-dye kit made by clairol that's supposed to be pretty good-my mom uses it. When you get ready to get it back to your natural color just dye it a color that really blends in well with your natural color.

Good luck.

I've been dying my hair since 5th grade! So For a while, for a while i was dying it blonde, then i recently changed to brown. But If your dying your hair a darker color and then want to go back to a lighter color, bleach your hair (not using actual bleach) Or you could get a Malibu treatment. You don't HAVE to keep dying it, some people don't mind the roots showing, sometimes its not all that weird. It Really depends on what you like/want.

Have fin dying your hair! I hope you like it!

Any hair dying info and tips?

Yes you will get the roots showing through once your hair grows but only if you use a permanent hair dye. As for weird %26amp; patchy it will only look this way if you do not apply it evenly. I gather you are going to do this yourself %26amp; not use a hairdresser....there are so many good hair dyes on the market these days that can be used at home %26amp; very easy to use...just like shampooing!! Try a semi permanent dye that washes out after 8-10 washes, you will not get root growth because the colour will fade gradually with each wash, plus if you don't like the colour you can change it!!! Good luck!!

I only dye mine to get rid of the gray, and I dye it my natural color of dark brown, so no root prob. except gray. But when the roots start showing through and you're still wanting the same color, you only need to color the roots. You can do this by using your original dye.

Dyeing hair!?

ok like today I am getting blonde hair dye (I still have my natural hair color) but I need to know wich shade would look best on brown hair a bit on the dark side. I am going into 6th grade and the only reason I am doing this is because I need to umm... like have blonde hair it isn't pier pressure...i was thinking about doing the 30 day wash out but ppl are telling me that you can't do that with brown hair and I really don't want to end up with hay hair like my sister. do you have any ideas on what I can do?! I need some more answers......

Dyeing hair!?

just light streaks

Dyeing hair!?

go to a salon to get it done, they will lighten it gradually if your hair is very dark. or just give you lots of highlights, but if u do it at home it may not come out how u would want it to.

always better to go to a professional

Dyeing hair!?

I doubt blonde hair dye (like from a drug store?) will lighten your brown hair. .you'll have to bleach it to make it blonde. Wash out color will def not work unless you want to go darker.

To keep from damaging it you should get highlights. . and use good conditioner!

Good quality hair extensions?

Well, it turns out that in my genes, no matter how long I wait my hair will be about shoulder blade level.

I don't care the price, I'm just looking for extensions that will give me hair that goes about mid-back.

Well, my mom says her hair never really goes farther, so I'm guessing I'm the same since my hair is wavy like hers.

Also, I'm not really into damaging my natural hair, so some insight into that would be appreciated.

I was thinking of Dreamcatchers hair extensions by Paris Hilton, anymore ideas? =)

Good quality hair extensions?

as hair extensions damage the hair cuticle no matter how good quality they are, i would suggest using HairDo by Jessica Simpson. We use them at the salon i work at and they are just clip in meaning that they can be taken out when you do not want to wear them and they do not damage the hair at all.

Good quality hair extensions?

I really like Euronext. Very soft, good quality.

Good quality hair extensions?

go to a high class salon but they can cost atleast $400 but they're really good and last a long time

Good quality hair extensions?

definitely get the microbead extensions...i'm sure that's what paris' are though i've never heard of them. it is the least damaging and more natural looking that tracks which usually only really work for/look natural on african american girls. go into any salon and get a consultation, it will probably cost you between 1300 and 1500 dollars.

Good quality hair extensions?

sassy's at sally's beauty's seems really good i like hush hair though really good and high quality for black hair

Hair cut n colour. need some opinions :)?

wow i love her hair! haha

it looks like it's layered all around and choppy

i think you should go for it, because i was going to suggests that hair cut either way

you should be different from her and keep the color, but add thick blond highlights in a random spot of your hair (preferably the bottom)

Hair cut n colour. need some opinions :)?

The blonde hair style and coloring in the photo with the horizonal stripes Top is very complimentary to your facial features. The bangs coming forward from the crown of your head and I much prefer the shorter hair styles anyway. You can't go wrong with keeping that one and hon, it is not boring..... no way. I would keep it if I were you. But if you just have to have a change, find something similar; not that different. As I said, the blonde coloring is perfect for you. You really do look better in a lighter shade.

Hair!!?!!!!?!!?!!?

this isnt to important but i dyed my hair a while back brown and it is fading!! i wanted it to but now its almost blonde and my natural hair color is black...am i loosing my real color? and why is my hair soo dry now? i haven died it for about 4 months and i thought my real color should have been grown out by now but it hasnt is there anything i can do to get my natural color back?

Hair!!?!!!!?!!?!!?

i know what you mean i have been trying to dye my hair back to brown forever but it always goes bloned again my sister said all you can do is let it grow out to get your really hair color back. my advice go to a salon and ask if theres anything you can do.

Hair!!?!!!!?!!?!!?

Hi.

You can find highly useful resources for managing your hair on http://healthonlineinfo.info . It's a very useful webguide dealing with hair related issues. Report It

Hair!!?!!!!?!!?!!?

dye all of ur hair black! its gonna look AWESOME!! =]

NICE AVATAR!

Hair!!?!!!!?!!?!!?

Haha of course its important sweetheart. Dont worry too much-- you can go to a salon and get your hair "stripped"-- it takes all of the fake color out and gets you back to your original color (which you havent lost). Unfortunately its not great for your hair but the important thing is that you learned your lesson! :)

Hair!!?!!!!?!!?!!?

Your diet can affect your hair plus the environment you are in.

Remember it is winter and the air is dryer so your hair will be too if you are outdoors allot or in the wind.....Use a conditioner and don't be cheap, buy a good name brand conditioner and you should be OK....the color should come back on it's own unless your hair might be turning gray...

Washing hair with dish detergent?

Hi! I just used a semi-permanent dye on my hair and its too dark so I was just wondering, will the color go away if I wash my hair with dish detergent?? I heard that it is harsh on the hair, but I am planning on putting lots of moisturizing conditioner on it afterwards and also a moisturizing leave in conditioner. Also, if I wash it again with dish detergent, will it lighten my natural hair color?? My hair is naturally dark brown and I want it to be a bit lighter. I heard that if you wash with dish detergent it will make your hair lighter. Is this true?? Thanks!

Washing hair with dish detergent?

I agree with the girl below me....dish detergent is a NO NO!!!!! Also, too many chemicals in your hair will def. make ur hair fall out.....I suggest buying a color coded shampoo from the store(John Frieda and Pantene has some great ones)such as the color you would like your hair to b and use that...And since you have that color in ur hair, you might want to use the most moisturizing conditioner you can get.

Washing hair with dish detergent?

NO DO NOT DO THAT! If you want to lighten the color that is to dark....get a professional claryfing shampoo. Like a peppermint shampoo or paul Mitchell's shampoo 3. Put it on your hair dry ( a lot of it) Cover it with a plastic bag and then wrap your hair in a towel. Let the heat from your scalp warm it up. After about 45 minutes, wash out and then deep condition. Repeat if needed.

Washing hair with dish detergent?

DONT DO THAT.

it ruins you hair.

it is semi-perminate right?

wash it a bunch over the next week or so with a regular shampoo(not a hair dye shampoo)and it will lighten up.

Washing hair with dish detergent?

I wouldn't do that try washing it a lot and buy a special shampoo.

Washing hair with dish detergent?

Washing with a dish detergent like Dawn will help rinse out some of the excess color from your botched dye job. However, don't expect any miracles. It will not lighten your natural hair color. As it can be harsh on the hair, you're right, it would be a good idea to follow up with a quality conditioner.

If you want to lighten your hair color, it would be wise to have it done in a salon. Most at-home boxed colors contain very harsh bleaching agents and run the risk of turning your dark hair a brassy orange.

Washing hair with dish detergent?

oh no it sounds like your hair would turn out to be like straw if you did that. try getting some special shampoo and over time the color will wash away..

Natural Relaxers?

I'm African-American and I have natural hair right now, no chemicals. I don't want to get a perm again because I know the efrects, and with my hair it will do more harm then help. But I also have very thick hair and frizzs up as soon as it hits moisture. So, hot combing it won't help. I've heard of natuarl relaxers(all natuarl relaxer, no chemicals), where can I buy one? What are the name some?

Natural Relaxers?

I recently used this one on my friend who has EXTREMELY thick hair with very tight curls. her hair was very damaged because she blow dried and then flat ironed everyday.

while her hair didn't turn out sleek and silky it definitely wasn't in worse condition then before and she says that it's actually healthier than than before we did it. I highly recommend it!

Natural Relaxers?
